Volcanoes, salt and the people of Afar, with a full day on the salt economy.
The Journey
Six days moves beyond the famous landscapes and gives more attention to the human geography of Afar: how salt is worked, how it moves into wider trade, and how people live in this environment.
A dedicated day at Lake Asale is about understanding the salt economy, not staged cultural entertainment.
